Was there an American Idol contestant who sang a theme song anime?

I remember hearing that somebody once sang an anime theme song, or some other song from an anime, in an American Idol audition. Is that true or did my brain get mixed up with something else?
I’d love to see a video if it’s true!

    I recently heard about a girl named Laura Vanamo who sang Koi*Kana, the first opening theme to Kirarin Revolution, in auditions for Finnish Idols. Sadly, the video has gotten hard to find on YouTube. =(
